The HSI opened 488 points or 1.9% lower at 24,789. The HSCEI opened 140 points or 1.6% lower at 8,433. The HSTECH opened 92 points or 1.9% lower at 4,780.

For techs, TENCENT (00700.HK), BABA-W (09988.HK), JD-SW (09618.HK), MEITUAN-W (03690.HK) and NTES-S (09999.HK) waned 1.7-2.3%, while KUAISHOU-W (01024.HK) and BIDU-SW (09888.HK) cascaded 2.8% and 4.2%. AI stock KNOWLEDGE ATLAS (02513.HK) slumped 4.8%, while MINIMAX-W (00100.HK) shed 1.4%. Fiberoptic stock YOFC (06869.HK) eroded 5.3%.

ZIJIN MINING (02899.HK) reported a 62% increase in net profit to RMB51.777 billion last year, and announced the acquisition of the controlling power in CHIFENG GOLD (06693.HK) through the acquisition of A-shares, involving nearly RMB18.3 billion. Its share price stumbled 5.4% to $32.36, while CHIFENG GOLD sank 19% to $34.1.

Commodities stocks continued to decline, with ZHAOJIN MINING (01818.HK), CHINAGOLDINTL (02099.HK) and SD GOLD (01787.HK) shrinking 4.2-4.5%. ZHAOJIN MINING announced a 149% increase in 2025 profit and a doubling of its final dividend. LINGBAO GOLD (03330.HK) plunged 7.5%.

Commodities stocks CMOC (03993.HK), MMG (01208.HK) and CHALCO (02600.HK) cratered 4.2-4.4%, while JIANGXI COPPER (00358.HK) sagged 3.6%. CHINAHONGQIAO (01378.HK) reported a 1.2% increase in full-year net profit, denting its share price by 8.4% to $31.6.
