The HSI eventually ended the day up 59 points or 0.2% at 26,834. The HSCEI fell 27 points or 0.3% to close at 9,053. The HSTECH dropped 59 points or 1.1%, closing at 5,467. The total market turnover for the day amounted to HKD335.152 billion. In the tech sector, TENCENT (00700.HK) faded 2.9% to HKD581, with a turnover of HKD37.562 billion. BIDU-SW (09888.HK) slipped 3.6%. BABA-W (09988.HK) and MEITUAN-W (03690.HK) shed 1.4% and 1.7%. KUAISHOU-W (01024.HK) and BILIBILI-W (09626.HK) receded 4.5% and 2.6%. NTES-S (09999.HK) added 0.3%. JD-SW (09618.HK) dipped 0.7%. In addition, NEW ORIENTAL-S (09901.HK) and GDS-SW (09698.HK) surged 6.4% and 4.6%. WEIMOB INC (02013.HK) dived 4.4%. Chip stock SMIC (00981.HK) ebbed 2.4%, while its peers HUA HONG SEMI (01347.HK) and NOVOSENSE (02676.HK) rallied 4.2% and 10.2%. Among carmakers, BYD COMPANY (01211.HK), XPENG-W (09868.HK), XIAOMI-W (01810.HK), and NIO-SW (09866.HK) dropped 1.1-1.5%. As commodity prices were trending upward during the Asian session, CHI SILVER GP (00815.HK), ZIJIN GOLD INTL (02259.HK), LINGBAO GOLD (03330.HK), MMG (01208.HK), and CMOC (03993.HK) advanced 5.8-6.4%. ZIJIN GOLD INTL (02259.HK) rocketed 7.8%. JIANGXI COPPER (00358.HK), ZIJIN MINING (02899.HK), SD GOLD (01787.HK), ZHAOJIN MINING (01818.HK), and CHINAGOLDINTL (02099.HK) leaped 3.6-4.6%.
