<Research>Citi Expects Limited Impact From Google's Project Genie on TENCENT

Regarding market concerns that whether last Friday's US gaming stock sell-off triggered by Google's Project Genie (a global generative AI) announced on January 30 will also hurt Chinese gaming companies, Citi wrote in its research report that it believes the impact will be rather limited. In fact, Citi estimates that the potential success of Project Genie should have a positive impact on TENCENT (00700.HK)'s Hunyuan World Model 1.5 and its mini-game ecosystem. Unless users choose to use a VPN, Google's services (including AI Ultra) are inaccessible in China, meaning that Project Genie itself shouldn't affect the gaming habits of Chinese game users.
