Global central banks anticipated an increase in the proportion of gold in their reserves over the next five years, while the proportion of US dollar reserves was expected to decrease, a survey by the World Gold Council (WGC) suggested.

The survey, conducted from February 25 to May 20, showed that 76% of the 73 central banks surveyed expected their gold holdings to increase within five years, compared to 69% last year. Nearly three-quarters of central banks predicted a decline in US dollar reserves five years from now, versus 62% last year.
